Executive Summary
We at NJCCSF share a common philosophy: we believe that better awareness of Chinese culture will not only benefit the younger generations of Chinese immigrants in understanding their roots but also help the public at large to learn and accept the rich and unique Chinese custom, language, culture and history. With the recent increases in Chinese American population in the State of New Jersey, this task has become more important and urgent.
NJCCSF holds a unique position in the State of New Jersey: recipients of our awards, scholarships and sponsorships are not limited to a single region or school district in NJ. We believe that children of all races and social background are eligible for our benefits as long as they share the same interest in promoting Chinese cultural studies and activities.
What is the New Jersey Chinese Cultural Studies Foundation?
The New Jersey Chinese Cultural Studies Foundation (NJCCSF) is a non-profit and tax-exempt charitable organization, recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 organization, and United Way code # 036520.
Our Mission
We provide financial aid and scholarships for students who study Chinese language, culture and history. We also sponsor events and activities that fulfill these objectives in the State of New Jersey:
- To recognize individuals’ contributions to Chinese cultural studies
- To provide financial assistance to individuals who would like to study Chinese culture in accredited educational institutions
- To sponsor activities held by other non-profit and non-political organizations with similar interests
Our relationship with Overseas Hong Kong Association (OHKA)
The Overseas Hong Kong Association created the NJCCSF to establish a foundation that specifically promotes the studies of Chinese culture and language. NJCCSF was officially founded in 1999. The Internal Revenue Services granted it a tax-exempt non-profit charitable organization status in February 2000.
Since its formation, the OHKA has organized various fund-raising activities and is actively partnering with more businesses and individuals to raise money for cultural causes.
